Set 3 – Rat-drifting 1 2018
Rat-drifting 2018-19 starts out with two sets of collaborative work by Marielle Groven and Aaron Lumley (Montréal) together with Jasper Stadhouders and Marjolein Vogels (the Netherlands).
The second set features composer Marielle Groven’s My Heart Is A Mountain, a gorgeous piano meditation on resonance and space. The Toronto premier of this piece will be performed by Groven with Stadhouders and Lumley in accompaniment and choreography by dancer Marjolein Vogels.
A leading light of a new generation of Dutch free improvisers, Jasper Stadhouders plays aggressively fearless and joyful guitar. In the first set, he will be performing solo as well as in duo with Canadian double bassist Aaron Lumley to celebrate their new album, Strung Out.
