on the dot By Kirsten L Ewart – YCW 2019
Now in its 32nd year, Array’s workshop is designed to benefit early-career composers of any age who have completed their basic studies in composition.
PROGRAM
Over a four-week period, four composers will work intensively with the musicians, conductor, and mentor to create a new work for members of The Array Ensemble (Sheila Jaffé, violin; Colleen Cook, clarinet; Stephen Clarke, piano; David Schotzko, percussion/Artistic Director; Rick Sacks, conductor).
Unrestricted experimentation is encouraged, and composers are expected to attend each other’s sessions in an atmosphere of open dialogue and creativity. The curriculum includes weekly sessions with the ensemble and Composer Mentor, listening sessions featuring participants and guest presenters, instrumental workshops, and private sessions.
All sessions, workshops, and concerts are recorded in audio and video for the participants’ unrestricted use.
